Carousel 10257 vs. Grand Carousel 10196 - Find 8 differences ! :-)

Wow ! Set 10257 is now a hot topic in LEGO store and there is no doubt that the new carousel is similar to his predecessor set 10196 Grand Carousel in many ways even though that 10257 was introduced just a week ago and the other one more than 8 years ago.
Let's take a look at 8 differences in these two fairytale sets that I've identified so far.

1) New carousel is smaller than the old one by approx. 600 pieces.

2) Unlike the old carousel, the new one includes a ticket booth with a ticket sales man

3) Traditional horses in old carousel were replaced by cute colourful animals from fairytales

4) New piece was made to cover the roof of the new carousel and to make it look more smoother

5) New carousel has more detailed core than the old one including the interior stairs

6) Old carousel includes three more minifigures than the old one

7) "Power house" of the new carousel is smaller and looks simpler than the old one and the animals seem to be rotating more smoothly and less effortlessly than in case of the old carousel

8) New carousel is by $0.001 cheaper per piece than the old one.

I am more than happy that LEGO decided to release a new version of the legendary Grand Carousel and it was a day one purchase for me. I still do not have the 10257 set at home, but it should have been on the way already.

What do you think about this set ?

I will be very happy if you let me know in comments below.

I was still years away from rediscovering LEGO when the old Carousel came out, so I never had the chance to consider buying it. In our LEGO town(s) the amusement park is fairly prominent, so we will absolutely be getting the new carousel. We will likely wait until the right promotion before pulling the trigger. It looks very cool and I'm glad it is slightly smaller. My only complaint is that there are stickers. I don't expect all those decorations to be printed, but I would trade less detail for no stickers. I will still get it and my brother and I will try to replace the stickered pieces with something else, perhaps shiny tiles.
Can't wait to read your review after you've built yours.

Exactly, I loved the old carousel since I have discovered it, but in today's prices it's just unreachable for me. I was really happy that LEGO decided to recreate it. :-)
I am sure that the new carousel will be a great fit to your Lakeview recreational district ! I also don't mind that the new carousel is a bit smaller than the old one.
