Collectible Minifigure Series 1-10

January 23, 2017 10 Comments A+ a-

Go through the breakdown of each of the first 10 collectible minifigure series and find out which minifigure sells for the highest price or what is the average price of minifigure in each series.
I think that it was a brilliant idea of LEGO back in 2010 to start releasing the Collectible Minifigure Series theme. I take part in this game and enjoy hunting for every character in the series. :-)
As time passes, all minifigures released within the series 1 - 10 increased in price. Some of them quite significantly. :-)

Collectible Minifigures Series 1
First set in row of each theme is usually the most worthy one as time passes ... This seems to be true also in the world of collectible minifigure series. I was pleasantly surprised by Nurse being the most worthy minifigure of the series. :-)
  • Released in 2010
  • 16 minifigures / 115 pieces
  • 3 female minifigures and 13 male minifigures
  • RRP per minifigure : $1.99
  • Jan-17 price per minifigure : $23.86
  • Nurse - the most worthy minifigure in the Series 1 as of January-17
    • "A friendly professional which is here to help"
  • Magician - the least worthy minifigure in the Series 1 as of January-17
    • "A stylish show man who likes to play tricks"
Collectible Minifigure Series 1
Collectible Minifigures Series 2
Series 2 is full of sport characters such as a skier, a karate master or a weightlifter. Nevertheless, the most worthy minifigure in this series is a Spartan Warrior, even though the difference in price between him and the second Skier or third Surfer is minimal. Every cent counts. :-)
  • Released in 2010
  • 16 minifigures / 115 pieces
  • 3 female minifigures and 13 male minifigures
  • RRP per minifigure : $1.99
  • Jan-17 price per minifigure : $13.28
  • Spartan Warrior - the most worthy minifigure in the Series 2 as of January-17
    • "A soldier looking for the next big battle"
  • Ringmaster - the least worthy minifigure in the Series 2 as of January-17
    • "A presenter who loves being in the spotlight"
Collectible Minifigure Series 2
Collectible Minifigures Series 3
Series 3 introduced the first animal costume dressed minifigure - a Gorilla Suit Guy that currently sells for the far higher price than the rest of the minifigures in the Series 3. However, there are more very cool minifigures in the Series 3 such as an iconic Tribal Chief or Hula Dancer.
  • Released in 2011
  • 16 minifigures / 110 pieces
  • 3 female minifigures and 13 male minifigures
  • RRP per minifigure : $2.99
  • Jan-17 price per minifigure : $11.30
  • Gorilla Suit Guy - the most worthy minifigure in the Series 3 as of January-17
    • "A peculiar person who has gone totally ape"
  • Race Car Driver - the least worthy minifigure in the Series 3 as of January-17
    • "A wild racer with a need for speed"
Collectible Minifigure Series 3
Collectible Minifigures Series 4
The only series out of those 10 which sells a minifigure on average below $10 per piece.
  • Released in 2011
  • 16 minifigures / 110 pieces
  • 3 female minifigures and 13 male minifigures
  • RRP per minifigure : $2.99
  • Jan-17 price per minifigure : $9.67
  • Hazmat Guy - the most worthy minifigure in the Series 4 as of January-17
    • "A clean-up expert whose job makes him a little nervous"
  • Crazy Scientist - the least worthy minifigure in the Series 4 as of January-17
    • "A creator whose inventions are never quite evil enough"
Collectible Minifigure Series 4
Collectible Minifigures Series 5
Second animal costume dressed minifigure and again it took the first place in terms of the highest current selling price.
  • Released in 2011
  • 16 minifigures / 106 pieces
  • 4 female minifigures and 12 male minifigures
  • RRP per minifigure : $2.99
  • Jan-17 price per minifigure : $11.67
  • Lizard Man - the most worthy minifigure in the Series 5 as of January-17
    • "A minifigure with an appetite for imaginary destruction"
  • Cave Woman - the least worthy minifigure in the Series 5 as of January-17
    • "A practical lady of a prehistoric era"
Collectible Minifigure Series 5
Collectible Minifigures Series 6
We could find 5 female characters in the Series 6, which is by 2 characters more compared to series 1 - 4 and by 1 character more compared to the Series 5. Liberty statue in this series beats others in terms of price. On the third place, there is again a female character which reminds me the Nurse from  the Series 1. It seems to me that female medical characters provide a very nice return on investments as time passes. :-)
  • Released in 2012
  • 16 minifigures / 115 pieces
  • 5 female minifigures and 11 male minifigures
  • RRP per minifigure : $2.99
  • Jan-17 price per minifigure : $11.59
  • Lady Liberty - the most worthy minifigure in the Series 6 as of January-17
    • "An icon of freedom and free building"
  • Highland Battler - the least worthy minifigure in the Series 6 as of January-17
    • "A proud warrior of the Scottish Highlands"
Collectible Minifigure Series 6
Collectible Minifigures Series 7
My favourite animal costume dressed minifigure, a Bunny Suit Guy, took the first place in terms of the highest price which does not surprise me because it is a very popular character among AFOLs what I know so far. :-) However, I did not expect a Bagpiper to rank the second most expensive one.
  • Released in 2012
  • 16 minifigures / 119 pieces
  • 5 female minifigures and 11 male minifigures
  • RRP per minifigure : $2.99
  • Jan-17 price per minifigure : $12.74
  • Bunny Suit Guy - the most worthy minifigure in the Series 7 as of January-17
    • "A happy-go-lucky costumed character"
  • Jungle Boy - the least worthy minifigure in the Series 7 as of January-17
    • "A wild man who wouldn't mind some civilisation"
Collectible Minifigure Series 7
Collectible Minifigures Series 8
Third most expensive series out of those 10 when you want to collect all 16 minifigures now, following the Series 1 and the Series 10, with average selling price of $13.7 per piece.
  • Released in 2012
  • 16 minifigures / 116 pieces
  • 5 female minifigures and 11 male minifigures

  • Fairy - the most worthy minifigure in the Series 8 as of January-17
    • "A magical sprite who is kind of mixed-up"
  • Pirate Captain - the least worthy minifigure in the Series 8 as of January-17
    • "A ship-stealing seamen who just wants to be feared"
Collectible Minifigure Series 8
Collectible Minifigures Series 9
Very cool series with a wide range of characters. My utmost favourites are a Hollywood Starlet, a Fortune Teller and a Judge.

  • Hollywood Starlet - the most worthy minifigure in the Series 9 as of January-17
    • "A celebrated actress of the silver screen"
  • Mr. Good And Evil - the least worthy minifigure in the Series 9 as of January-17
    • "A Minifigure who is in two minds about everything"
Collectible Minifigure Series 9
Collectible Minifigures Series 10
Out of 5 female minifigures in this series - Bumblebee Girl placed first, Librarian second and Medusa third in terms of the highest current selling price.

  • 16 minifigures / 103 pieces
  • 5 female minifigures and 11 male minifigures

    • "A parachutist about to make his first jump"
Collectible Minifigure Series 10
Below you can see a graph which shows 16 most expensive minifigures out of 10 series.
16 Most Expensive Collectible Minifigures
On the contrary, the following graph shows 16 least expensive minifigures out of 10 series.
16 Cheapest Collectible Minifigures
This is also a very interesting graph which compares series according to their current average price per minifigure. You can see that the Series 1 is by far the most expensive series to collect all its 16 characters. Series 4 lies on the other side of the graph which points out on the lowest price to be paid to collect all 16 characters.
All 10 Collectible Minifigure Series
There are so many cool characters in those 10 series. :-)

When did you start collecting the minifigure series ?

I will be very happy if you let me know in comments bellow.

Current price of each minifigure presented in this article was calculated as an average of 3 highest sold listings on Ebay in January 2017. The average was then compared to older sold listings to ensure that the price is in line with older listings.

Thank you very much for your comment, Huw.
I calculated prices as an average of 3 highest and the most recent sold listings on Ebay. The average was then compared to older sold listings to ensure that the calculated price is in line with older listings.
I wanted to show current market price so this method seemed to me the most appropriate way to do it.

I guess Bricklink pricing iformation is more meaningful and reliable due to the higher volume of transactions and more extensive coverage of different buyers and sales over various countries. while the information shown by eBay regarding which ones are more valuable might not be too deviated from the truth, the values of various minifigures seem quite inflated. Most of the less valuable ones actually are widely available at Bricklink at US$3 to $4 each instead.

They must look perfect, all the minifigures together. That's cool that you did not miss any series and you have even the special series such as the German soccer team. ;-) Another lucky AFOL !
